Almost Half A Year

Wow! I can't believe how time flies and how amazing the first 6 months of marriage have been. It it so wonderful to be married to my best friend. I'm finally starting to get used to the new last name and to referring to Andrew as "my husband". I feel so blessed and I'm thankful to have shared in such a momentous occasion with my dearest family and friends. Your love and support truly made for the perfect wedding day.

In case you haven't seen the wedding photos yet, I wanted to share this link with you! http://pricelessimages.net/2010_01_17/ Tim did such a lovely job - thank you, Tim!!

We still need to print some images out and get them organized, but in the meantime I'd like to share a little clip from out 1st dance:

Vegetarian option update

We've decided to offer the Pasta Primavera as our vegetarian entree because we are unfortunately unable to offer all 3 options as we previously thought. If you have selected a vegetarian option other than the Pasta Primavera, please let us know if you'd still like the vegetarian option or if you'd rather swich to chicken or steak. Happy to see you in a little less than 2 weeks! We're busy here in Delaware taking care of last minute details. Just got our marriage license today!

Menu Options

The majority of the invitations went out on Monday! For those of you wondering what the dishes entail, let us delightfully fill you in. :) I'm going to start with the vegetarian options. If you are selecting a vegetarian dish, you actually have 3 options. Please write the one you want on the response card. The choices are Pasta Primavera, Vegetable Lasagna and Mushroom Raviolis.

If you have a child 12 or under that has been invited to the wedding, you can specify that you want a kid's meal on the response card. The choices for the kids meal are Chicken Tenders or Mini Cheeseburgers. The kids meals come with french fries, apple sauce, fruit cup and vanilla ice cream.

For the main non-vegetarian options there is a choice of Filet Mignon with caramelized onion, gruyere cheese and merlot demi glace or Chicken Kimdrue- Breast of chicken stuffed with boursin cheese with sauce marsala

She caught it

Kimberly caught the tossed bouquet at Kathy and Evan's wedding earlier this month. I think it may have been a conspiracy...

White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church

The wedding ceremony will be taking place in Kimberly's family's home church, White Clay Creek Presbyterian in Newark, Delaware on the afternoon of Sunday, January 17, 2010.

Church address: 15 Polly Drummond Hill Rd, Newark, DE 19711

Here's how to get to the church (links will take you to a map):

From Philadelphia/Points North: Take I-95 South to first Newark exit (Route 273). and bear right towards Newark. Follow Route 273 until you come to Red Mill Road exit. Turn right and then left onto Red Mill Road. Continue on until you come to intersection at Kirkwood (Route 2). Amoco gas station is on right and Lyons hardware store on left. Continue through intersection onto Polly Drummond Hill Road. Turn left onto Chestnut Avenue at first intersection. Parking for church is on both left and right sides of street.

From Courtyard Newark Hotel: Turn left out of the hotel onto New London Rd/DE-896. Turn left at W Cleveland Ave (This is before you reach Main. Main Street is one-way, so you will not be able to turn left onto Main St). Turn left at Capitol Trail/DE-2 and continue to follow Kirkwood Hwy/DE-2 for a little less than 2 miles. As you approach the intersection with Polly Drummond Hill Rd, the church will be on the small hill to the left. Turn left onto Polly Drummond Hill Rd. Turn left onto Chestnut Avenue at the first intersection. Parking for the church is on both left and right sides of the street.

Where To Stay in Newark, DE

The place to be for the wedding weekend is the Courtyard Newark - University of Delaware. We have just set up a block of rooms which our guests can book and get a pretty nice group lodging rate. Just mention "Woods/Jordan Wedding" when booking. The phone number is 302-737-0900.

There are also many other hotels in the area around Newark, DE that you can choose to stay at, but the Courtyard Newark is the only one where we will have the group rate. Why not be where all the fun is? As we understand it, there will also be shuttle service provided between the hotel and Hartefeld, which is the reception site. If this weren't reason enough to convince you to book a room (even if you live just over the border in New Jersey or PA, for the heck of it), this Courtyard is also supposedly the #2 best hotel in the entire worldwide Courtyard Marriott brand. It's practically the flagship! I don't know how Marriott determines these rankings, but no employee I've spoken with has failed to proudly bring up this fact the moment the occasion presented itself. It is also home to the Experimental Guestroom though I don't think any of us will be staying in it. Among other futuristic amenities, this room features an alarm clock on wheels.

Be careful when booking to be sure that it is the Courtyard Newark - University of Delaware. There's at least one other Courtyard in the general area, which heaven-forbid, could be #58 or even #394 for all we know. PLEASE NOTE: The other tricky thing about the Courtyard Newark is that some maps and navigation systems place it on a road that doesn't seem to exist about a half mile from its actual location. At this writing, Google Maps shows it in two places with the same address of 400 David Hollowell Dr (the road that doesn't exist). Choice "B" on Google Maps points at the actual "place" and the real address there is 400 Pencader Way. That's the best address to enter into your GPS and online map searches. However, even this address is not without its own small hazards: Pencander Way goes in a circle and intersects New London Ave in two places. Perhaps among the academic research done at this hotel is a study of how guests respond to being lost and confused prior to (hopefully) arriving.

But doesn't this room look comfy? (Especially after that frosty sign above)
